Pre-K Tip Sheets
Resources to Improve Literacy in Pre-Emergent Readers
Learn how to use our high-quality resources to set your pre-emergent students on the path to reading fluently.
The Pre-K Tip Sheets contain detailed suggestions on using materials for whole-class, small-group, or individual
instruction as well as centers, extension activities, and assessments.
For students to become successful in reading, they must start by learning the necessary foundational skills. The Pre-K Tip Sheets can help your students take the first few steps on that journey by providing ideas for how you can optimize existing Reading A-Z materials, including Phonological Awareness Lessons, Alphabet Books, and High-Frequency Word Books, for whole-class, small-group, or individual instruction. There are also sections on small group instruction and guided reading, center and extension activities, and assessments.
How to Use Pre-K Tip Sheets
The Tip Sheets start by explaining the skills being taught and the organization of the materials. Click on the
links beside the Tip Sheets on the landing page to explore the resources.
Use the Resource Modification section for ideas on adjusting the resources to target Pre-K students' needs. Then,
use the Instruction and Center design to see how you can use the materials in centers or whole-class,
small-group, or individual instruction. The Tip Sheets end with ideas for extension activities and assessment.
