Step 1: Prepare (Teacher)

Select a grade-level passage using Lexile data and instructional goals.
Preview the passage before administering.
Review scoring tools:
- Fluency Rubric
- Fiction and Nonfiction Retelling Rubrics
Provide copies of the rubrics and quiz for each student.
