The creators of the U.S. Constitution knew that a strong justice system was needed in their new nation. The judicial branch of the United States, established by the Constitution, manages the country's legal process, interprets its laws, and protects the rights of its citizens. Its system of federal courts, including the Supreme Court, review cases with the goal of enacting true justice. Along with two other branches of the federal government, the judicial branch helps ensure a balance of power in the United States.
