Toad, still disguised as a washerwoman, continues to look for a way home. He walks along a canal hoping it will lead him somewhere useful. Along the canal comes a barge pulled by a horse. The barge-woman offers Toad a ride in exchange for washing her dirty laundry. When she realizes Toad has no idea how to wash clothes, she mocks him, and when she discovers he is actually a toad, she throws him off the boat. In revenge, Toad steals her horse and rides off. Some time later, Toad meets a gypsy who offers to buy the horse.
