The Wind in the Willows (Part 6)
One morning in early summer, Badger arrives at Rat's house. It is time to teach Toad to be sensible. When they arrive at Toad Hall, Toad is dressed in his driving clothes, ready to take off in his new car. They force Toad back inside and send the new car away. Badger takes Toad aside for a stern talking-to, which reduces Toad to tears. Toad promises to give up motorcars entirely. His resolve is short-lived, however. Badger, Rat, and Mole put Toad under house arrest. Toad escapes their custody, steals and wrecks a car, and ends up sentenced to prison.
