Sergeant Stubby
Many brave people serve their country during wartime, but animals can also be involved in the fight. Sergeant Stubby recounts the story of one faithful dog who sailed to France with American soldiers to serve in the trenches of World War I. The young bull terrier proved so heroic that he was promoted to sergeant and received numerous honors and awards. Though wounded in battle, Stubby survived the war to become a national hero. Photographs, illustrations, and a map accompany the text.
