Over the years, the way people do their jobs has changed. Technology and new ways of doing things have replaced some jobs. For example, fire trucks have replaced fire engines pulled by horses. Today firefighters don't need to know how to handle horses. Food is now kept in refrigerators, so icemen no longer deliver ice to keep food cold. Once, lamplighters lit streetlights, but today the lights are electric. Jobs have changed in many areas and will continue to change as people invent new technology.
