Level 2 Grades 1-2
What do you need to plant a backyard garden? You need the right tools, good soil, some seeds, and a place to plant. The rain and the sun help the plants (and the weeds!) grow. Finally, the vegetables are ready to pick to make something delicious-like vegetable fried rice. Deepen students' comprehension of texts, promote critical thinking, and build metacognitive awareness using a structured process for responding to reading. The instructional routine prompts students to reflect on texts both orally and in writing. Guide students until they become comfortable using the routine independently, with minimal support. Refer to the Overview for instructions.
