My Body
The My Body collection focuses on key organs so students begin to understand the features and functions of human body systems that keep them healthy. Each book introduces an engaging character guide that tells important facts about each system in a personal narrative format. Students learn about the main role of each body system and how each system helps them meet their body's needs.
Students can read books near the same level on the skeletal, muscular, digestive, respiratory, nervous, integumentary, and circulatory systems to better understand each system and how the systems work together.
Each book of the My Body Themed Nonfiction Series helps curious students begin to understand the internal structures that make up their bodies and keep them alive.
Fun illustrations and nonfiction text features, including diagrams, cutaways, and flowcharts, make potentially abstract concepts and details more concrete for emergent readers.
How to Use My Body
Books in the My Body series can be read independently of each other in any order. However, a suggested order to help build students' understanding of how all of the systems work together might be: My Brain, My Stomach, My Lungs, My Muscles, My Bones, My Skin, and My Heart.
Follow leveled book lesson plans for each book to integrate reading strategies and comprehension skills.
