Classic (fiction), Trade Book
The rabbits in Sandleford Warren are faced with a dilemma when Fiver, who has visions, warns them that they are in danger. Some of the rabbits heed his warning, including his brother Hazel, and they leave on an expedition to find a new home. After deciding against joining Cowslip's warren, a group of rabbits that have made a shocking arrangement with a farmer, Hazel's group settles in the place called Watership Down. They now have a new problem-there are no female rabbits to help keep the population going. In the course of their mission to find females, the rabbits encounter General Woundwort, the leader of a totalitarian society of bunnies. Many of the rabbits under his care are unhappy, and Hazel and his group decide to free them. The resulting clash builds up to an intense climax that will determine the future of Watership Down.
