Hobbit Bilbo Baggins lives a comfortable, safe life in Bag-End. But when Gandalf the wizard pays him a visit, he decides to set forth on a great adventure to help a group of dwarves reclaim their gold, which is buried in the Lonely Mountain and guarded by a dragon named Smaug. Bilbo faces treacherous trolls, savage spiders, and an odd creature named Gollum. Eventually humans, elves, and dwarves will have to work together to defeat the fire-breathing Smaug and the ensuing hordes of orcs and goblins that descend on the mountain.
