When the animals on Manor Farm rebel against their human masters and take control, it looks as though they are set to create a paradise based on the precepts of animalism. But it isn't long before a power struggle manifests between two pigs-Snowball and the power-hungry Napoleon. Napoleon, using a pack of vicious dogs, attacks Snowball and assumes leadership. As years pass, the envisioned paradise disappears and an unjust class system emerges, very much like the one the animals originally overthrew. This story is an allegory that explores how the noble ideals of the Russian Revolution devolved into totalitarianism.
