Widge is an orphan living in Elizabethan England. To survive, he works for various masters, and his current one has given him the task of stealing Shakespeare's Hamlet. Widge manages to assimilate into the theater and befriend people who perform there, earning their trust. However, he has learned that he must follow his masters' orders to survive. Now Widge faces a moral dilemma: does he betray his newfound friends and steal the play or disobey his guardian's explicit orders and risk his own safety?
