Ramón's father is a famous pearl dealer, and Ramón secretly learns to dive, against his father's wishes, to impress one of his father's best divers. On one of his dives, Ramón finds a beautiful black pearl, and it seems his wishes will come true. However, the man who instructed him in diving warns him that the pearl belongs to the Manta Diablo, a legendary manta ray that patrols the waters near Ramón's home. When awful things begin to happen in his town, Ramón realizes that the legend must be true. He must go on another dangerous adventure, this time to appease the Manta Diablo and save his village.
