Joey Pigza's life is not so easy. Aside from his battles with ADHD, he has to spend the summer with his estranged dad, Carter, whom he hasn't seen in a very long time. Carter loves Joey, but he disapproves of the medicine patch that he wears to help him deal with his disorder. When Carter flushes the medication down the toilet, it isn't long before Joey begins to unravel. Knowing what is best for himself, but not wanting to upset his mother or disappoint his father, Joey loses control but gains an understanding of his dad.
