A Little Princess follows the story of Sara Crewe, an imaginative girl born into a life of wealth and privilege. Sara attends an exclusive boarding school in London, owned by Miss Minchin, a cruel headmistress. Although Miss Minchin secretly dislikes Sara, resenting her intelligence and independence, she treats her like a star pupil because she is rich. However, when Sara's father dies in India, leaving her a penniless orphan, Miss Minchin's true nature is revealed. While Miss Minchin tries to break Sara's spirit, her acts only serve to strengthen Sara's will to survive. With the help of some friends and secret benefactors, Sara not only endures Miss Minchin's treatment, she ultimately rises above it.
