TESTIMONIALS - READING SPECIALISTS

We recently started using Reading A-Z books and resources. Each teacher is delighted with the items they have used, and the children are enjoying reading and doing the worksheets. We want to motivate our pupils, and Reading A-Z is an invaluable tool in doing so.
Jacqui McVeigh; Literacy Coordinator; Clifton School; Bangor, Northern Ireland

I am a Reading Recovery teacher who also helps K-3 teachers. Having access to the Reading A-Z material, already leveled, ready to print is wonderful.
Martha Wheeler; Portland Elementary School; Louisville, Kentucky

My position takes me around the district to work with elementary teachers to provide interventions for struggling students. I use Reading A-Z books and lessons with students and have had much success. Just being able to put a book in the hands of a student who doesn't have books at home has been a joy. They enjoy taking the books home to read to parents. I am working with my supervisor to purchase Reading A-Z for all of our reading specialists. Thank you for providing teachers with an outstanding resource at a very reasonable cost.
Amy Miller; Intervention Technologist; Lakewood City Schools; Lakewood; Ohio

I just wanted you to know that I love your new site. It is easy to Navigate, and the new materials are great. I have used this program for Title I kids who often do not have books to read at home. It has been a lifesaver for my program.
Barb Ludtke; Title I Teacher; Jefferson School; Beaver Dam, Wisconsin

I work with first-grade students. I have two students who read slightly below grade level and three who read far below grade level. I let one group plug into Reading A-Z books while I read with the other group. I have used the fluency passages with my better readers to assess their progress on short-term objectives on their IEPs. I have found your program to be most useful.
Barbara Brown; Special-Education Teacher; Arlington, Virginia

I have a hearing-impaired child in my Guided Reading/Learning Assistance (Primary) group.  The sight wordbooks are working really well for him. I don't know what I would do without them. He does not vocalize much, but he takes these books and signs and uses his voice with each one. Now the new talking books will be perfect for him too. I send your leveled books home with lots of my students, and that is working very well. I’m so glad our school has a license.
Colleen Jones; Learning Assistance Resource Teacher

Our school has included the Reading A-Z levels in our curriculum. This is the second year I have used Reading A-Z leveled books with our Title I first-graders. I have seen wonderful growth. Most of my students are close to grade level now.

The classroom teachers and I use the books for home reading as well as in class. We appreciate the new Benchmark and non-fiction books, too. The Reading A-Z books are particularly helpful in expanding the English vocabulary of our ELL students. Our kindergarten teachers use the Leveled books and High-Frequency Word books.

Thank you for providing these wonderful materials at such a reasonable price. They are truly a blessing for poor districts like ours.
Mary J. Loman; Reading Specialist; Florence K-8 School; Florence, Arizona

One teacher used these books for summer school, and a student told her, "These are the only books I have at home." Thank you for enabling us to share with our students the joy of reading.
Carol Masters; Reading Assistant; K-3 Reading A-Z School Coordinator; Cheyenne Elementary; Peoria, Arizona

Reading A-Z is an awesome Web site, and I use it a lot. The new additions are always great. I am constantly recommending the site to fellow teachers and parents.
Angela Pogue; Literacy Coach; Canyon Breeze Elementary; Avondale, Arizona

I am using your program with my special education reading kids for the second year. I love everything about your Web site and program. It really has made a great impact on my students' reading. They all enjoy the books and find the phonics worksheets fun. I especially like the variety of stories and genres.
Tracy Rivera; Special Education/Reading Specialist; Amagansett School; Amagansett, New York

All grade levels can benefit from your Web site. I tell everyone I know about Reading A-Z. I even purchased it for a fellow teacher for Christmas.
Mary Bonebreak; Retired Curriculum Resource Teacher; Printeon Elementary; Orlando, Florida

I used your leveled books last year and saw tremendous growth, even with severely at-risk students. I have recommended your site to countless teachers. I firmly believe in your philosophy regarding your high-frequency word books, and I feel that reading teachers would benefit from them with their students.
Cherry Carl; Reading Specialist and University Instructor at the University of California; San Diego

I just wanted to let you know how invaluable your Web site has become to me. I teach remedial students from K-5. We are a poor rural district, and I paid for the subscription out of my own personal funds. It has been worth every penny, and I would have gladly paid more. I am able to find books that are perfect for my students' reading levels as well as their interests. I also use the decodable books to help my students focus on particular sounds.
Virginia S. Mayfield; Reading Specialist; Lawn Elementary; Jim Ned Independent School District; Lawn, TX

I have been showing many teachers how complete the program is. I used it in my summer school class, and the children loved the stories and were so anxious to come to our guided reading lessons. Once our reading teacher and principal saw how complete your site was and, most of all, how the children enjoyed the books, he asked our entire staff if we wanted a subscription.
Mary Walters; Staff Development Literacy Team / Early Childhood; Kindergarten, First-, and Second-Grades Teacher; Bellevue, NE

I have been in the regular classroom for 27 years. Next school year will find me teaching remedial reading and writing to the strugglers K-4. I have used Reading A-Z for the last few months now ( in my regular classroom) and have found it invaluable. The kids love the booklets that they get to keep, and I love the lesson plans and worksheets. Thank you so much for helping to make my life easier!
Palma J. Sabatini; Woodridge Elementary; Spokane, WA

My kindergarten daughter passed her annual assessments with spectacular scores. It’s because I used this site, as I will this summer to prepare her for first grade. And my fifth-grader is more fluent and comprehending. Most of all I’m going to begin to use many materials in my reading resource classes this fall. Thank you so much for the successes I’m experiencing. Again, my daughters and I thank you all for the hard work of your staff.
Susan Donnelly; Reading Resource Teacher: Grades 3-8; Fort Dearborn Elementary School; Chicago, IL

My hats are off to you for a wonderful Web site at a reasonable cost. I am a reading specialist and find your resources to be right up the alley of a teacher implementing balanced literacy in the classroom. Our school has been lucky to receive a CSRD Grant and Read to be Ready Grant from the state of Missouri, so we have plenty of leveled books, etc. But this site provides teachers who choose to subscribe additional options for take-home books and additional resources to use in literacy corners or for guided reading. Now when I do workshops, your Web site address is always shared.
Lou Sears, Hickman Mills School District; Johnson Elementary; Kansas City, MO

I love your books for emergent readers. The stories are cute, predictable, and the pictures are wonderful. I am a reading specialist working with first- and second- graders in an independent private school. I used to make up stories for my young readers, and it took forever to come up with a good story, pictures, etc.
Laura Rice

Reading A-Z has been very helpful for me. I teach Title 1 K-4 and Reading Recovery. Thanks so much for all of your work in supporting reading for children.
Sandy Simms; Hampton-Dumont School; Hampton, IA

This is a reading teacher's dream! The kids are really enjoying taking their books home, and parents are pleased at how their children's confidence increases by re-reading these books at home. Congratulations on wonderful and practical Web site for teachers! Keep the books coming!
Beth Yurkewecz; Greenwood School; Wakefield, MA

We are an inner-city multicultural school serving about 970 students. We purchased a license to have your books read in six different classrooms, and we have been amazed and totally impressed with the content, the vocabulary, and the organization of your Web site. Thank you for making reading so enjoyable and stress-free for us teachers.
Lara Chebaro-Burrafato; Literacy Coordinator; Secord School; Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Thank you for providing this outstanding program.
Mary J. Loman; K-1 Title I Reading Specialist; Florence K-8 School; Florence, AZ

I've had excellent training in the area of reading, especially in leveling and teaching books using the Reading Recovery, DRA, and Gay Su Pinnell methods. I had to retire last year, but when I saw your books advertised on the net, I thought my daughter might find your Web site useful. She was just beginning her first year teaching. This year she is teaching third grade, and the children love them! They especially like the Tommy Tales and can't wait for his next adventure. She loves the way the books are leveled and have lesson plans and worksheets to go with them. When I first gave them to her, I cautioned her about letting anyone else copy the books because of the license agreement. She told me the other day that she would renew without a doubt and that they were worth every penny! Thank you for providing such a valuable, practical, inexpensive, and quality resource for teachers. Please remember how many children you are helping by providing books for them to keep at home and read with their families. Together, we are giving children the most valuable gift of all--the gift of literacy!
