Book Summary
The Golden Flute is a Yao Chinese folktale about a little girl who is stolen by a dragon. Her mother hears the girl's voice on the wind saying that her brother will rescue her--but she doesn't have a brother. On the way home, her mother eats a magical bayberry and gives birth to a boy that same night. The boy grows incredibly quickly and soon leaves to rescue his sister. On the way, he finds a golden flute that makes animals dance. He uses his new flute to exhaust the dragon with dancing, defeating it and saving his sister.
