Expand the Reading

Writing Connection
Have children write a report using the information in the book. The report should include a summary of what the book was about, what they learned from the book, and what they found most interesting.

Science Connection
This book would tie in wonderfully with a unit on inventions. Have children choose one aspect of the book to do further research on and create a research report and poster to share with the rest of the class.

Reading Independently
Have children read the book independently or with a partner. You can also encourage them to read other books of their choice that match their reading level.
