Humor Books

Humor is a form of play that expands students' understanding of their world. Reading A–Z offers humor books as a way to motivate students to become critical readers and writers. Reading A–Z’s books of jokes, riddles, and cartoons introduce students to structured forms of humor, such as word play, situational humor, physical humor, and character humor. Humor books help teach critical skills such as, inferencing, determining author’s purpose, problem solving, understanding associations among ideas, and mastering language rules and how they can be broken to make fun. Encourage students to use Reading A–Z’s wordless humor books to write their own jokes or riddles.
